Down The Bayou Charters Crew

Meet The Captains | Grand Isle, LA

Captain Joey Maciasz

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Captain Joey has explored the rich waters of coastal Louisiana all of his life.

Trout fishing and duck hunting weren’t enough for Joey, so he turned to the deep blue.  He always says, “There is nothing on this planet that is more exciting than a yellowfin tuna flying out the water chasing bait”. From day one, Captain Joey fell in love with the excitement of offshore fishing.  He really appreciates the diversity of the Gulf and enjoys the challenge of targeting different species of fish!  If you really want to see him excited, ask him about grouper fishing.

When he leaves the dock, you can be sure he is giving it his all to bring home a box full of fish and some tired customers.

Captain Hall Clark

Hall Clark grew up in a Houston, TX and bought a trout boat before he bought a truck, ensuring saltwater was never out of reach. He is well versed in everything from speckled trout to tuna and everything in between.

After getting his start charter fishing in Galveston he soon learned of the excellent fishing Grand Isle and Fourchon. South Louisiana quickly became home and his favorite place to fish. Deck handing for many notable captains throughout the gulf has allowed him to learn skills from some of the best and has now blended them into his own style. Fishing on a tournament boat for a stretch has also left him with a love for catching billfish as well as all other pelagic species. He also has a strong love for bottom fishing. Look forward to a box full of fish and some good laughs when fishing with Captain Hall.

Captain Michael Taylor

Captain Michael Taylor also known as Captain Mikey. Born and raised in River Ridge, Louisiana, and spent much of his youth fishing the salt water in south Louisiana searching for hungry redfish and speckled trout. Over the years he has learned the tricks and techniques to consistently catch these critters even on those tough days.  Captain Michael got his first taste of the deep blue and just couldn’t get enough. Since then he has fished with some of the finest captains south Louisiana has to offer and earned great awards from The Billfish foundation.

Captain Michael often says” I used to think that I was in love with fishing but I stand corrected over and over. It just gets better and better.”  More than anything Captain Michael appreciates the opportunity to fish with everyone and aims to make anyone he takes fishing learn the love of fishing. Captain Michael always is going to be fired up and ready to fish with a smile on his face and will come back with a box full of fish every time.

Captain Laine Fontenot

If y’all take a trip down the bayou to Port Fourchon, LA looking for a good time and a box full of fish, then this is your man. Only 26 years old and approaching 10 years in the charter fishing business, Captain Laine has experience with it all. He has spent hundreds of days and nights out there in the Gulf of Mexico commercial fishing for Tuna, Swordfish, and bottom fish when he isn’t running charters. You name it and he’s caught more of them than you would want to deal with. He will take you and your clients, friends, or family out and nothing short of a good time will be had. You’ll be glad that Down the Bayou Fishing Charters cleans your catch for you because if you take a ride with Captain Laine that might take a while!
