Down The Bayou Charters Crew

Meet The Captains | Grand Isle, LA

Captain Joey Maciasz

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Captain Joey has explored the rich waters of coastal Louisiana all of his life.

Trout fishing and duck hunting weren’t enough for Joey, so he turned to the deep blue.  He always says, “There is nothing on this planet that is more exciting than a yellowfin tuna flying out the water chasing bait”. From day one, Captain Joey fell in love with the excitement of offshore fishing.  He really appreciates the diversity of the Gulf and enjoys the challenge of targeting different species of fish!  If you really want to see him excited, ask him about grouper fishing.

When he leaves the dock, you can be sure he is giving it his all to bring home a box full of fish and some tired customers.

Captain Austin Ourso

A native of Prairieville, Louisiana, Captain Austin grew up fishing the waters of Louisiana.
Learning from his father and grandfather, Austin has mastered the techniques of the marsh and knows how to put clients on a good time.  Austin bought his first boat at the age of 16 eager to fish every chance he could.  What separates Austin from other captains is his enthusiasm.  No matter what the targeted species are for the day, Austin will wear himself out putting customers on the fish. They call Austin the “mangrove master” because he is the best mangrove fisherman around.  Austin is also an excellent inshore fisherman.  Having years of experience in the marsh, he has the trout and redfish on lockdown.
Come experience how much fun he can be on the boat for yourself!

Captain Masen Vaughan

Capt. Masen has been fishing out of Grand Isle and Port Fourchon since his early childhood.

Being a Louisiana native, it made it easy for every possible day to be spent on the coast fishing. Whether it was miles offshore or deep in the marsh, Capt. Masen was passionate about filling the box with big fish. For the past five years Capt. Masen has been fishing for multiple charter services, and has fished with the best. He takes his years of experience, and uses it create an unforgettable experience for every person on the boat. Everyday that he leaves the dock, Capt.

Masen gives 110% to put fish in the box, and ensure a fun and safe experience.
